When is removal the right call, and when is pruning enough?

If a tree is dead, damaged or creating a hazard to people, buildings or other trees, removal is usually the answer. The most common reasons are signs of decay, storm damage, and roots or branches that have grown too close to the house. Our arborists look for the problems that are hard to see from the ground, such as interior decay, cracks in the trunk, disease and insect infestation.

If the tree is healthy but overgrown, pruning, dead wooding or cabling can keep it standing safely for years. Our arborists offer basic and in-depth consultations and write a personalized proposal for every client, so you can see the options side by side before you decide.

We do not recommend removing a tree on your own. Large tree removal is risky and dangerous work.

What does every job include?

Every job starts with a certified arborist looking at the tree or site in person, then a free, detailed estimate, scheduling of the crew and machines, the work itself, and removal of limbs, logs and debris.

  1. A certified arborist looks at the tree or the site in person before any work begins.
  2. You receive a free estimate that is detailed, easy to understand and tailored to what you need. If you want the stump ground, say so and it is written in.
  3. The office schedules the crew and the machines the job calls for: crane, boom truck, track loader, chipper or brush mower.
  4. The work is done, and limbs, logs and debris are removed from the property.

Do the seasons change the work?

Yes. Dead branches and safety hazards can be pruned at any time. Otherwise the best time to prune is when the tree is dormant: late winter for most deciduous trees, such as maples, and early spring and summer for most conifers, such as pines. See the guide to pruning timing in Northern Nevada.

Brush clearing and defensible space work belong before fire season. Storms with heavy wind, rain, snow or hail bring down weak and dead trees at any time of year, which is why emergency service runs 24 hours a day. In snow season our plows, pushers and loaders are available around the clock, and we sell firewood.

Residential and commercial

We work for homeowners, commercial properties, homeowners associations and property managers, and builders and land owners across Northern Nevada. Our tree services always include a free estimate before any further action is taken.

Snow removal covers homes as well as corporate offices, shopping centers, medical facilities, retail stores and industrial properties, with a custom flat rate for ongoing customers.

What we do not do

We do not plant trees, and we do not spray, inject or fertilize. Our work is removal, pruning, tree care consulting, fire mitigation, land clearing, snow and firewood. If a pest or disease is the worry, an arborist can identify the problem and tell you whether pruning out the affected wood or removing the tree is the right step. The tree guide covers the common ones.
