Stateline is the resort end of the Nevada south shore: hotels, condominiums, shops and rental units packed against the California line. A fallen tree here is as likely to land in a parking lot or across a walkway as on a private roof, and the caller is usually a manager.
At a glance
- Only about 8% of Stateline homes are owner-occupied, so many properties are run by managers and associations
- Nevada side only: we do not work across the line in California
- Fully insured, Nevada Business License # 20131580674
- Crane, boom truck, chipper and loaders in our own fleet
Who makes the call in Stateline?
The Census Bureau finds that only about 8% of occupied homes in Stateline are lived in by their owners, and fewer than one in five housing units is a detached house (ACS 2020-2024, a small sample). Most trees here stand on property run by a resort, an association or a rental manager.
If you are a tenant or a guest, tell the property manager or front desk first; they hold the authority to approve work. If you are the manager, we can deal with you directly, and we can send the documents your owner or insurer asks for. See tree service for HOAs and property managers and commercial properties.
What should a manager do in the first minutes?
In the first minutes, call 911 for any injury or a tree in the lanes of US 50, call NV Energy about any power line, close off the area, photograph from outside it, and call 775.232.8243 to tell the office what is blocked.
- Call 911 for any injury, any vehicle with people in it, or a tree in the travel lanes of US 50.
- If a power line is involved, call NV Energy and hold everyone back, staff included.
- Close off the area with whatever you have: cones, tape, a parked vehicle. Hanging limbs overhead are part of the hazard.
- Photograph the tree, what it hit and the surrounding area from outside the closed-off zone.
- Call 775.232.8243 and tell the office what is blocked: an entrance, a fire lane, a walkway, guest parking.
Why does a public site change the job?
On a private lot the crew controls who is near the work. On a resort or condominium site, people keep arriving. The crew needs room to set up the crane or boom truck and a closed drop zone, and it helps if someone from the property can keep the area clear while the work goes on. Cars parked under or near the tree should be moved only if they can be reached without walking under it.
Debris is collected and hauled away as part of the service, and the track loader moves the heavy wood so the lot or lane can reopen.
What are the rules at the south shore?
Stateline is in the Tahoe Basin. A live tree over 14 inches in diameter at breast height needs a Tahoe Regional Planning Agency permit before removal; a dead tree that could fall on a building does not. For a damaged live tree that is still standing, keep your photos and ask TRPA or the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District. The agency decides. Managers who need this often will find the detail in Tahoe tree removal permits.
Our work stops at the state line. A tree on a California parcel needs a California contractor.
After the emergency
A storm that takes one tree often leaves cracked limbs and hangers in the rest. Ask for an arborist walk-through of the property once it is open again. Our arborist consultation produces a tree care plan you can budget against.
