Certified arborist in Kingsbury, NV

Snow load is the Kingsbury question
The Daggett Pass station, 0.7 miles from town, averages 21.8 inches of precipitation a year, more than twice Carson City's (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). At this elevation that falls mostly as snow, and a wet snow on a heavy crown is what finds a weak fork. A consultation looks for tight unions, cracks, long over-extended limbs and dead wood before winter does.
If a limb has already failed, the arborist can tell you what it says about the rest of the tree.
Old homes, tall trees
About 68% of Kingsbury homes were built before 1980, with a median year of 1976, and only about 3% date from 2000 or later (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024; approximate). About 4% of households heat with wood (same source), so chimneys and flues also sit near big trees.
That is the setting for most visits: a tree that was already large when the house went up, now crowding a roof, a power service or a deck.
What does a Kingsbury visit cover?
The arborist walks the lot with you, looks at each tree of concern from crown to roots, and notes the targets underneath. You get a straight answer and a personalized proposal for any work recommended: pruning, dead wooding, cabling and bracing, or removal. ISA Certified Arborist WE-11728A is on staff, and we run our own crane for jobs where access is tight.
Permits and fire in the Basin
A live tree over 14 inches in diameter at breast height needs a Tahoe Regional Planning Agency permit before it comes down, while a dead tree that could fall on a house does not. The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District evaluates defensible space and issues the tree permits for it. The agency decides.
The Forest Service rates Kingsbury's wildfire risk to homes higher than 97.9% of US communities, and 53% of its buildings sit in the direct exposure zone.
Calling from the Grade
Because Kingsbury is the highest place we serve, snow can limit truck access in winter. Tell the office about your driveway and any gates when you call 775.232.8243, and we plan the visit around them. The phone is staffed seven days a week, the office is open Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and 24-hour emergency service is available if a tree comes down.

Tahoe tree permit check: measure your tree
In the Lake Tahoe Basin, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) requires a permit to remove a live tree over 14 inches in diameter at breast height (4.5 feet up the trunk). On lakeshore lots the limit is 6 inches for trees between the house and the lake. Wrap a tape around the trunk at 4.5 feet and enter the number.
Enter the measurement to see the diameter.
This is a measuring aid, not a ruling. TRPA and your fire protection district decide. A dead tree that could fall on a house does not need a TRPA permit. TRPA tree rules
