Towns we serve in the Fallon and Hawthorne
These are desert towns with planted trees. Nothing here grows tall without water someone brought to it. We travel to both for removals and pruning.

What is different about trees this far into the desert?
Water and heat. Fallon, at 3,965 feet, is the lowest town we serve, and both towns receive less than 5 inches of precipitation a year, about half of what Carson City gets. Average summer highs are 90.4 F at the Fallon station and 91.8 F at Hawthorne. Every shade tree in either town is an irrigated tree.
That shapes how they fail. A large shade tree that loses its water sheds limbs and dies back from the top, and the result is dead wood in a big crown over a house or a street. Read watering mature trees in the high desert and how to tell if a tree is dead or dying before you decide a tree is finished.
Why does Hawthorne have so many large old trees?
Because the town is old. About 83% of Hawthorne's homes were built before 1980 and nearly four in ten before 1960, the oldest housing stock of any town on our list (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024). Trees planted with those houses can be sixty years old or more. In Fallon about 40% of homes predate 1980.
Old, large trees next to buildings are the work we are set up for: large tree removal, dead wooding and weight reduction, planned by a certified arborist.
Is wildfire a concern here?
Less than anywhere else we work, and we say so plainly. The USDA Forest Service ranks Fallon's risk to homes at the 31st percentile of US communities and Hawthorne's at the 52nd, against 98.5% for Carson City. No fire of 300 acres or more since 1980 is mapped within about 10 miles of Fallon. We do not build defensible space pages for these two towns. On rural parcels around Fallon, lot clearing and brush mowing is about access, fence lines and building, not fire.

Fallon and Hawthorne questions
Still have a question? Call 775.232.8243. Phones are answered seven days a week.
Do you really serve Hawthorne?
Yes. Hawthorne is on our service list. It is about 115 miles from the yard, so we ask for photos and a full list of the work before the visit.
Is there a certified arborist who comes to Fallon?
Yes. We offer arborist consultations in Fallon, and an ISA Certified Arborist assesses every job before work begins.
Which services do you offer in Fallon?
Tree removal, trimming and pruning, certified arborist visits, and lot clearing and brush mowing. In Hawthorne we offer tree removal and trimming.
Why are my trees dying back from the top?
In towns this dry, top dieback often follows a change in watering, but decay, insects and root damage look similar. An arborist has to see the tree to say which it is.
