The call list
Safety first: call 911 if anyone is hurt, and call NV Energy if a line is involved, before you call us. After that, the office will ask for the following.
- The street address and the nearest cross street or a landmark
- What came down: a whole tree, a large limb, or several trees
- What it is touching: house, garage, fence, car, road, driveway
- Whether a power, phone or cable line is on or near it
- Whether anyone is hurt or in danger
- A cell number that will be answered, and the best way to reach the tree
Photos help
Take photos from a safe distance, not from under the tree. Show the whole tree and the damage. They help the office judge the equipment, and your insurer will want them. See a tree fell on my car for the insurance side.
What not to expect on the call
We do not quote a price over the phone for storm work or promise an arrival time. Conditions and the number of calls change what is possible. What we can say is that the line is staffed seven days a week, emergency service is available 24 hours a day at 775.232.8243, and messages are returned within 8 hours.
After you call
Keep your phone free, keep people away from the tree and wait for the office. Do not cut a loaded limb or climb on a damaged roof. See should I cut up a fallen tree myself. Our guide a tree fell on the house lists the first hour in order.
If you cannot reach the office
Phones are staffed seven days a week, and if the office manager is not available, calls forward to the owner. If you reach a message box, leave your name, the address and a number, and the message will be returned within 8 hours. Do not wait on voicemail in an emergency; call 911 for injuries and NV Energy for lines, then try the 24-hour line again.
