Snow removal in Minden, NV

Minden is the first town on our snow list where an official snowfall gauge sits right in town, 0.5 mile from the center. That makes this one of the best-documented places we serve, and it shows more snow than Carson City even though it sits at nearly the same elevation.

At a glance

• Minden station: about 21.8 inches of snow a year
• Elevation about 4,725 feet
• Median home built in 1995
• About 26 minutes from our yard without traffic

More snow than the capital

The Minden station, at 4,709 feet and 0.5 mile from town, has a 1991-2020 normal of about 21.8 inches of snow and 9.3 inches of precipitation a year (NOAA). The Carson City station, to the north at nearly the same elevation, records 14.0 inches of snow. Valley snow tends to arrive as a few heavy, wet storms with long dry spells between.

A newer town with wide lots

About 3,700 people live in Minden, and the median home was built in 1995, with only about 16% built before 1980 (ACS 2020-2024; small-place figures, so treat as approximate). Newer lots mean wider driveways and generous frontage, well suited to plows and skid steers. Commercial lots near the county buildings and along the main roads get the same treatment: push, stack, haul, salt.

Who calls and what they need

Homeowners want a clear drive and walk before work. Business owners want a lot open before the first customer. We offer both under a custom flat rate for ongoing customers and hand shoveling where machines would damage something.

How do I get started with snow service in Minden?

The yard is 19.5 miles and about 26 minutes from Minden without traffic. Call 775.232.8243, describe the property and ask for a free estimate. The phone is staffed seven days a week, and the snow team is available around the clock in season.

Two storms, two kinds of snow

Valley snow comes as light powder one week and wet, heavy slush the next. Powder pushes easily with a blade; slush needs a loader or repeated passes and is more likely to refreeze into ice. We adjust the method to the snow, not the other way around, and we treat ice where meltwater runs across the pavement.

Minden is also where many Carson Valley properties keep landscaping and trees close to the pavement. When we push snow we protect planted beds, drip lines and sprinkler heads where we can, and we mark what we cannot reach with the machine so it is shoveled by hand.
