Snow removal is available 24 hours a day through the snow season. ## Winter services services - [Snow and ice removal](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/snow-removal/) - [Firewood and wood chips](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/firewood-wood-chips/) Winters here are erratic. It can be 60 degrees one day and a blizzard the next. The loaders, skid steers and trucks that move logs in summer move snow in winter, and the office sells firewood and wood chips. ## What do the winter services cover? The winter services cover snow and ice removal, snow hauling, firewood, wood chips and emergency tree service for storm damage. The table below matches each need to its service. | You need | Service | |---|---| | A lot, driveway or walk plowed, shoveled or salted | Snow and ice removal | | Snow hauled off a property that has run out of room | Snow hauling | | Wood for the stove or fireplace | Firewood | | Chips for paths, beds or erosion control | Wood chips | | A limb broken by snow, or a tree down in a storm | Emergency tree service | ## How much snow falls where we work? It depends on which side of the hill you are on. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals put a typical year at 14.0 inches of snow at the Carson City station, 20.9 inches at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, 21.8 inches at Minden and 46.4 inches at Virginia City. Across the lake, the Tahoe City station records 179.0 inches. The Nevada-side Tahoe stations do not report a snowfall normal, but anyone with a driveway in Incline Village or on Kingsbury Grade knows the pattern. The full table is at [climate normals by station](https://battleborntreeservice.com/data/climate-normals-by-station/). ## Snow removal for homes and businesses We plow, shovel and haul snow, clear sidewalks and driveways, salt and remove ice. The equipment is commercial grade: snow plows, pushers, front-end loaders and skid steers. Commercial work includes corporate offices, shopping centers, medical facilities, retail stores and industrial properties. Ongoing customers get a custom flat rate, and hand shoveling is available as needed. Carson City code puts the sidewalk in front of a property on its owner, and the City of Reno says it does not clear sidewalks or the berms its plows leave across driveways, which is one reason managers set up service before the first storm. See [whose job is the sidewalk](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/sidewalk-snow-rules-carson-city-reno/). ## Firewood and wood chips We sell firewood to customers in Reno, Carson City and nearby areas. Please call the office at [775.232.8243](tel:775.232.8243) for availability and pricing. Wood heat still matters in parts of our service area. About a quarter of households in Virginia City and in ZIP 89510 along Pyramid Highway heat mainly with wood, against about 1% statewide (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024). If you burn in Washoe County, check the daily burn code first: [burn codes explained](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/washoe-county-burn-codes/). ### Sources - [NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020 (Carson City, Reno-Tahoe Intl Airport, Minden, Virginia City and Tahoe City stations)](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/land-based-station/us-climate-normals) (retrieved October 1, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024, table B25040 (house heating fuel)](https://data.census.gov/) (retrieved October 1, 2026) - [Carson City Public Works, Street Maintenance](https://www.carsoncity.gov/government/departments-g-z/public-works/divisions/street-maintenance) (read October 1, 2026) - [City of Reno Maintenance and Operations: Snow and Ice Control](https://www.reno.gov/government/departments/maintenance-operations/snow-ice-control.php) (read October 1, 2026) ### Talk to the office [775.232.8243](tel:775.232.8243) | Monday to Friday | 8:30 am - 5:00 pm | |---|---| | Saturday and Sunday | Office closed, phones answered | Phones answered seven days a week. 24-hour emergency service.
