Our office and yard are at 6301 US Highway 50 East in Carson City. Indian Hills is about 10 miles from there, about 15 minutes without traffic. We do not promise arrival times, because a storm that breaks your tree is breaking others, and after severe storms existing clients are first in line. But distance is not what will slow an Indian Hills call. The same nearness helps after the emergency. A second visit for the stump or for the other trees is an ordinary local job. ## What kind of tree trouble does the hill get? Indian Hills is a mix. The median home was built in 1995, about a quarter are older than 1980 and more than a third are newer than 2000 (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024). About 7% are manufactured homes. So one street has thirty-year-old trees over the roofline and the next has young ones still on stakes. The USDA Forest Service places about a third of the community's buildings, 33.5%, in the direct exposure zone, in or next to wildland vegetation. Those are the homes along the edges, where brush and native trees on the slope meet the back fence. Its 1991-2020 normals are 9.34 inches of precipitation and 14.0 inches of snowfall a year, with an average winter low of 25.0 degrees.
