Not much without help. The Fallon Experiment Station averages 4.77 inches of precipitation a year (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). Growth on a lot follows whatever extra water it gets: a ditch, a leaking line, lawn runoff from next door. Those wet edges are where weeds grow tall and volunteer trees take hold, and they are usually where the clearing is. Dry-ground weeds such as tumbleweed need no help at all and are mowed or gathered and hauled. ## Clearing for building or fencing For a new home site, a shop or a fence line, we remove the brush and any trees in the way, take out stumps where the plan needs it and truck off the debris. Ask the City of Fallon or Churchill County, whichever governs the parcel, about grading and building permits; those belong to the owner.
