# Snow removal: your questions answered

Battle Born Tree Service plows, shovels, hauls and salts for homes and businesses in Northern Nevada, and the team is available 24 hours a day through snow season. Ongoing customers can get a custom flat rate.

Winter weather here can change in a day. These answers cover what the snow service includes and how to set it up.

## What does your snow removal service include?

Plowing, hauling, shoveling, maintenance, clearing sidewalks and driveways, salting and ice removal. We handle residential and commercial properties. Hand shoveling is available as needed, and we haul snow away when there is nowhere to push it. Tell the office what you need cleared, how large the area is and whether you need a one-time visit or service all season. The right machine and crew size depend on the answers. See [snow removal](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/snow-removal/) for the service page.

## Do you plow for businesses as well as homes?

Yes. Our site lists residential properties, corporate offices, shopping centers, medical facilities, retail stores and industrial properties. Commercial lots usually need a set routine, so it helps to describe the lot, the entrances and the hours the business opens. Call [775.232.8243](tel:775.232.8243) to talk through it, and ask the office how service would be set up for your lot. Property managers can find more on the [commercial properties page](https://battleborntreeservice.com/who-we-serve/commercial-properties/).

## What equipment do you use?

Commercial-grade snow plows, pushers, front-end loaders and skid steers. Larger machines move snow fast in open lots, and smaller ones handle driveways and tight areas. We also own dump trucks for hauling snow away. The right machine for your property is picked when the job is scoped, and the office can tell you what would suit your driveway or lot. See the full list on the [equipment page](https://battleborntreeservice.com/equipment/).

## Can I get a flat rate?

Our site says we offer a custom flat rate to ongoing customers. We do not publish prices, so call the office and describe the property. A flat rate suits regular service across the season, and one-time clearing is handled differently. Ask the office how they would set up your property. Whether an estimate is free for snow is something to confirm when you call, since our free estimate statement is for tree services.

## Are you available at night and on weekends?

Our team is available around the clock during snow season, and the phone line is staffed seven days a week. We do not promise a specific arrival time, since a storm affects every customer at once. Existing clients come first after severe storms, but we serve anyone we can. Leave your address and number if you reach the message box. Messages are returned within 8 hours.

## Where do you plow?

Our site names the Reno and Carson City areas and surrounding communities across Northern Nevada. Service depends on route and distance, so ask the office whether your address is covered. Mountain communities have extra snow load, and some are outside the usual route. Check your town on the [service areas page](https://battleborntreeservice.com/service-areas/) and call to confirm. Lake Tahoe questions are on the [Tahoe page](https://battleborntreeservice.com/faq/lake-tahoe/).

## Whose job is the sidewalk in Carson City or Reno?

Generally the property owner. Carson City's municipal code, sections 11.12.070 and 11.12.130, puts sidewalk snow on the owner, and the City of Reno says sidewalk shoveling is not a service it provides. We did not find a stated hour deadline for either, so we do not give one. We can clear sidewalks as part of a snow contract. See our guide, [whose job is the sidewalk](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/sidewalk-snow-rules-carson-city-reno/).

## Can salt or ice melt hurt my trees?

It can. Salt and ice melt wash into the soil along walks and driveways and can stress nearby plants. Where trees stand next to a path, ask the office about options before the season. Plow blades can also scrape bark. Our two ISA Certified Arborists can look at the trees on your property. Read the guides on [ice melt, salt and your trees](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/ice-melt-salt-and-trees/) and [protecting trees from plow and snow-load damage](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/protecting-trees-from-plows-snow-load/).

## Can you remove limbs that snow has broken?

Yes, that is tree work we do all winter. Broken or hanging limbs can be pruned at any time of year, and emergency service is available 24 hours a day at [775.232.8243](tel:775.232.8243). Stay out from under the limb, and call NV Energy first if a wire is involved. Heavy wet snow is a common cause. Read [heavy wet snow and broken limbs](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/heavy-snow-broken-limbs/).

## What should a commercial snow contract cover?

Ask about the areas to be cleared, the trigger for service, how ice is handled, where snow is piled or hauled, and how the work is recorded. Terms vary by property, and we do not publish ours, so ask the office what they would write for your site. A written agreement helps both sides. Our guide, [commercial snow removal: what a contract should cover](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/commercial-snow-removal-contract/), lists the questions.
