It has grown from one man with a tool truck and a few chainsaws to an eight-man crew with two ISA Certified Arborists and its own crane and boom truck. The founder made an oath to open a business that was quality-driven rather than profit-driven. That promise still sets how every job is estimated, staffed and cleaned up, from one broken limb in Carson City to a row of old cottonwoods in Reno. ## At a glance - Opened October 2013 in Carson City by Michael Orlick - Eight-man crew: two ISA Certified Arborists and six tree removal experts - ISA Certified Arborist WE-11728A on staff - Voted First Place, Best Tree Service, Nevada Appeal Best of Carson City, 2018 through 2025 - BBB accredited since 2015, A+ rating - Nevada Business License # 20131580674, fully insured ★★★★★ Everyone was polite and accommodated all my requests for special pruning. When they were done, the yard was completely cleaned. Pamela P. · Google review, August 2021. Battle Born Tree Service began with a dream, a tool truck, a few chainsaws and an eager young man who wanted to change the tree service industry. Michael Orlick, whom most customers know as Mike, already had more than ten years of arborist experience when he opened the company in October 2013. In the years since, the one-man show has become an eight-man crew: two ISA Certified Arborists and six tree removal experts, with a fleet of equipment sized for any job. Together the team offers more than 40 years of combined knowledge in Northern Nevada tree trimming and care. The name is Nevada's own: Battle Born are the words on the state flag, and the company works only in Nevada. ## What does quality-driven mean on a real job? It means the order of work never changes. A certified arborist assesses every job before work starts. You receive a free estimate that is detailed and easy to understand. Then the crew and the machines that fit the job arrive, and the site is cleaned before they leave. It also means you get a plan for your trees and shrubs, not only a number. If pruning, dead wooding or a cable will keep a tree standing safely, the arborist will say so. If the tree is dead, decayed or a hazard to people and buildings, he will say that too. The crew describes itself as all American arborists who take pride in their work. Customers are not treated like a number, and the goal is a relationship that lasts for years. ## Who is on the crew? Two ISA Certified Arborists are on staff, including ISA Certified Arborist WE-11728A. The ISA credential belongs to a person, not a company. It is earned by passing the International Society of Arboriculture exam and kept current with continuing education. Our guide explains [what the credential means and how to verify one](https://battleborntreeservice.com/guides/what-is-an-isa-certified-arborist/). Six tree removal experts work alongside the arborists as climbers, equipment operators and ground crew. On a crane job the climber and the crane operator stay in clear communication for every cut, with the rest of the crew on the ground. - Two ISA Certified Arborists on staff - Six tree removal experts - OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 hour training, first aid and CPR certified - More than 40 years of combined knowledge ## What work does the company do? Tree removal is the headline, and large trees close to houses are the specialty. [Crane-assisted removal](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/crane-assisted-tree-removal/) lifts a tree out in sections instead of lowering every piece on ropes, which takes less time and has less impact on the yard. The rest of the year fills in around the trees: [trimming and pruning](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/tree-trimming-pruning/), [stump grinding](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/stump-grinding/), [24-hour emergency service and storm clean-up](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/emergency-tree-service/), [defensible space](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/defensible-space-fire-mitigation/) and lot clearing before fire season, then [snow and ice removal](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/snow-removal/) and [firewood](https://battleborntreeservice.com/tree-services/firewood-wood-chips/) in winter.
